1604: RENOVATION
This past spring and summer we had the opportunity to transform this 1940’s architectural gem for some fantastic clients. It was quite different from the suburb house that we transformed for them years ago and we appreciate them giving us the opportunity. This bad boy was solid, constructed out of concrete block exterior and interior walls, concrete floor and ceiling joists, and concrete floors and ceilings, all covered with plaster. It mostly withstood everything time and nature threw at it over the past 80 years and I would bet that it will be around for 100’s of years to come. It’s the most solid house we’ve ever worked on. Demolition was challenging and running new electrical wiring and plumbing was a pain in the ass! Again, solid concrete and masonry everywhere, no furred out wood walls, lots of jackhammering, core drilling, hot sawing, grinding and cussing. In the end it was well worth it and we’re thrilled with how it turned out.
